Shh for Chrome · Last updated 12 August 2026

Shh collects nothing. It has no analytics, no accounts, no tracking, and no server. Nothing you do in the extension is transmitted anywhere, because the extension makes no network requests at all.

What Shh stores

One thing: which sections you have switched on or off. That is a short list of names like feed or reels, held in Chrome’s extension storage on your own computer.

If you are signed into Chrome with sync enabled, Chrome may replicate that list across your own devices through your Google account, the same way it syncs your bookmarks. That transfer is between you and Google. The list never reaches us, and there is nothing in it but your switch settings.

What Shh does not do

Where Shh runs

Only on instagram.com. The extension applies a stylesheet that hides parts of the page, and reads the address bar path to know which page you are on so it can hide the right things. It has no access to any other site.

Permissions

Shh requests one permission, storage, to remember your switch settings between visits. It also requests access to instagram.com so it can apply its stylesheet there.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
